The CEO and entire management and players of Buruj Sports Academy have joined other soccer loving Nigerians to congratulate the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, and MFM FC after the club beat Real Bamako 1-0 at the Agege Township Stadium to qualify for the next round of the CAF Champions League.
A product of the academy, Chidi Akuneto, scored the vital goal in the 81st minute as the Olukoya boys who had earlier played a 1-1 draw in Bamako, Real Bamako needed to score in Agege to stand a chance of progressing to the next round, MFM had their first ever win in the CAF Champions League.
CEO of Buruj, Salaudeen Waheed said he was proud of the feat achieved by Akuneto and the entire team and challenged him to keep his head high to do more and probably win the coveted trophy for the nation.
He also disclosed that players of the academy have been inspired by this feat going forward.
MFM will now slug it out with Moloudia Club D’Alger of Algeria for a place in the group stage of the competition.
