Buruj Sports Academy staged a thrilling comeback to defeat Webstar Football Academy 3-1 in a captivating friendly clash.
The game began with Webstar Football Academy losing possession .Their early chance paid off in the 12th minute when a defensive lapse from Buruj Sports Academy allowed Webstar to fire a lone shot past the goalkeeper, giving them a deserved 1-0 lead.
PDespite creating chances, Buruj Sports Academy couldn’t find an equalizer in the first half, recording three shots on target and seven off target. An early substitution saw Ashefon Samuel replace Daniel Destiny as Buruj Sports Academy pushed forward relentlessly, but the half ended 0-1 in Webstar’s favour.
The second half was a different story. Fired up after the break, Buruj Sports Academy pressed higher and forced Webstar back into their own half. In the 54th minute, a defensive miscue gifted Samuel Ashefon the ball inside the box, and he smashed home a stunning volley to level the score at 1-1.
With momentum on their side, Buruj Sports Academy continued to pile on the pressure. Raheem Salaudeen, the creative spark in midfield, came close with a powerful free-kick effort that was denied by a flicked defensive header. Playing with swagger, the Buruj boys sealed the victory in the 89th minute. Defender Malobi Ebube started a dazzling move from the back and got a final pass from Abraham Erinle to finish-it himself with a composed strike, capping off a stunning 3-1 comeback win.
