A promising talent from Buruj Sports Academy, Raheem Moyinoluwa Salaudeen, was among the Nigerian school sports contingents that returned home safely after an impressive outing at the inaugural Africa School Games held in Anaba, Algeria.
The Nigerian team, which arrived in Abuja early Friday morning, finished fourth overall with a haul of 25 medals, marking a commendable debut at the continental school games.Upon his return, Raheem who is also a member of the U15 national team, the Future Eagles paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria U17 national team (Golden Eaglets) camp, currently under the supervision of renowned coach Manu Garba.
During his visit, the young midfielder expressed his ambition to play for the Golden Eaglets in the near future. His development has been closely watched since 2023, when he made headlines as the youngest player to feature in the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) at just 13 years old, a record that still stands today.
Raheem has since matured both technically and tactically, becoming a key part of the NFF/FIFA Technical Development Scheme and a regular feature in the Future Eagles setup.Given his current trajectory, many believe it is only a matter of time before he dons the national colours at a major international tournament.
The successful outing in Algeria has further reinforced the National Sports Commission’s commitment to grassroots sports development.
This aligns seamlessly with the “Play and Study” initiative of Buruj Sports Academy, which continues to produce well-rounded student-athletes.
The management of Buruj Sports Academy congratulates the National Sports Commission and the Federal Government of Nigeria for providing such a vital platform for young talents to shine through school sports.
Meanwhile, Nigeria is set to host the second edition of the Africa School Games in 2027, after winning the hosting rights from the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).
