A 43-year old bus driver, Kabiru Bello, has reportedly committed suicide after he drank a popular insecticide known as Sniper at a mechanic workshop in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that it happened after two other victims, who drank the same substance over debt, were rushed to Igando General Hospital where they also died.

There had been instances of suicide nowadays as people seemed to be giving up easily and killing themselves as was the case of Bello and others.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed that the bus driver, late Bello, actually committed suicide over an undisclosed frustrating situation. He said that on 10th August, 2019, at about 1256hrs, Shomolu Pedro Police Station received information that a bus driver, one Kabiru Bello, 43, of No. 77 Owode Ibeshe, Ikorodu area of Lagos, allegedly drank a liquid substance suspected to be Sniper insecticide in his Volkswagen commercial bus with registration number AKD 724 XM.

DSP Elkana stated that the incident happened at a mechanic workshop at Ladylack Bus stop, Shomolu. He was rushed to Adesola Clinic in Shomolu where he was confirmed dead. He said that the Homicide Detectives visited the scene and one empty bottle of the chemical substance was recovered. The corpse has been deposited in mortuary for autopsy.

The issue of suicide has been of serious concern to Lagosians as there had been reports of suicide in various areas in the state and indeed across Nigeria recently.
Some attributed it to frustration due to the hard economic situation many were facing and called those in authority to do something quickly to alleviate the suffering of people in Nigeria.
