A commercial bus driver, Mr. Adams Obanuwe crushed to death a Police Inspector attached to Ikotun Division, one Olatunji Samuel, 42, as they were on routine duty at a temporary check point in Lagos.

The incident happened very close to Customs bus stop along Abarange Road in Ikotun, Lagos where the victim was on duty that evening.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the suspect denied that he willfully killed the victim and explained that he did not know that human beings were at that point where he hit the victim.

The police thereafter recovered the vehicle with registration number, EPE 158XP and kept at the police station as exhibit. The suspect was arrested and detained at the Ikotun Police Division for murder and reckless driving.

He was later charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for the alleged offence.

He pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O Shomade granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor informed the court that the victim was a serving police officer who was still on service before the incident happened.

The suspect was remanded in prison custody pending the fulfillment of his bail condition and the availability of DPP advice.
