We Came To Lagos To Buy Kids – 2 Women Confess

Two women arrested with a set of stolen twin babies have confessed that they actually came to Lagos to buy kids and supply to their clients.

The suspected baby merchants were arrested after they bought a set of one week old twins and were going back to their base enroute to the eastern part of the country.
The suspects, Falimah Iyawelibe, 55 and Mako Mohammed, 48, were arrested at the Young Shall Grow Motors park in Maza Maza area of Lagos, where with the stolen kids while trying to escape.

Police detectives suspected their movement, accosted them and they were unable to give satisfactory answer about the twins. They were whisked to the police station for further investigation.  The theft case was thereafter transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command, Lagos.
During investigation, it was discovered that one Mrs. Blessing was delivered of the babies and they were stolen from her and sold to the suspects for an undisclosed amount of money by unidentified syndicate resident in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspects were in the business of human trafficking, buying kids and supplying to barren women and others who needed them for other purposes.

They were charged before the Ogba Magistrates court for conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, informed the court that the defendants came to Lagos as merchants and human traffickers and were found at the motor park with the babies while trying to escape before the police apprehended them.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, denied them bail and did not take their plea.
The court directed the prosecutor to duplicate their file and send to DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 8th October, 2018 while they were remanded in prison pending the outcome of DPP report.
