CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

A 36-year old commercial sex worker, Mary Joseph, reacted over her arrest in front of a popular hotel in Lagos and told the Police that they have no right to tell her how to use her private part.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Mary reacted angrily at the premises of the Ejigbo Magistrates Court and lamented that the Police frustrated her efforts to attend to her clients who needed her for short time romps on that day.
The suspect was arrested following complaint by the management of the popular hotel known as Romeo and Juliet located at the NNPC Junction in Ejigbo area of Lagos. Both married women and single ladies go to the area to solicit for patrons who might want to do it by the road side at reduced prices. They usually prepared themselves with wrappers and other sex materials for their services to the detriment of the hotel management.
The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, was said to have led a police team to the area and Mary was found loitering around soliciting for male customers.
It was gathered that the area was notorious for sex workers who trooped around the hotel soliciting for customers who preferred to bend down and penetrate from behind without lodging in the chalets.

Following the complaints by the hotel management, the police raided the area and some of the workers flew but Mary resisted. She was arrested and charged to court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace by disturbing the neigbourhood and obstructing police officers on duty.
She pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Inspector G. Simon, asked the Court for a date for hearing for police to prove the charge against her.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni, granted Mary bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
However, Mary could not meet the bail condition and was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail.
The matter was adjourned till 13th May, 2019.
It was confirmed that when the defendant realised that she was being taken to prison, she then reacted and blamed the police for her predicament saying that the police had not right to tell her how to use her body.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that since the police raided the area, sanity has returned to the area.
