Capacity Building: IGP Egbetokun Plays Host To French & UK Delegates

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM., has recently engaged in separate high-level meetings with delegations from France and the United Kingdom, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, underscoring Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and enhancing the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force to address evolving security challenges.

 

The IGP recently hosted a delegation from France, including the French Director of Defence and Security Cooperation, Lieutenant General Régis Colcombet; Colonel Olivier Ductet, Lieutenant Colonel Pierre Yves Dupé, and Commandant Philippe Crespo, along with officials from the French Embassy.

Discussions during the meeting centred on fostering collaboration, facilitating training opportunities, and exchanging ideas across various areas of policing, with key areas of focus including Cybercrime Investigation, Anti-Terrorism, Knowledge Sharing, Training, Equipment and Technology.

In a separate engagement, the IGP, represented by the AIG Department of Operations (DOPs), AIG Taiwo Adeleke; the Director NPF-NCCC, CP Ifeanyi Uche, and other senior officers, received the United Kingdom-Nigeria Cyber Security Delegation to Nigeria, comprising of the Country Director of the Department of Business and Training at the British High Commission, Mr Mark Smith; CEO of Espranaro Limited, Dan Edmund and the Deputy Director at the British High Commission, Morayo Adekunle.

Key outcomes of the visit included an enhanced understanding of the evolving cyber threat landscape, strengthened relationships between the UK and Nigerian cybersecurity communities, increased awareness of the importance of cybersecurity best practices, and a commitment to continued collaboration in addressing cyber threats.

The successful visits of the French and UK delegations demonstrate the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to leveraging international partnerships and embracing innovative strategies to improve security and protect the Nigerian people.

The Force said it remains committed towards working collaboratively to build a safer and more secure future for all Nigerians.
