The news of the death of Bishop Gregory Ochiagha has just been received.
Bishop Ochiagha is the Iroko and the father figure of Catholic Diocese of Orlu, being the pioneer Bishop, who served in the Lord’s vineyard for decades.
Bishop Ochiagha (Rtd) was the name that rang bell among Christian faithful in the diocese and whenever Orlu Diocese is mentioned attention goes to Bishop Ochiagha.
Now after battling with minor health issues coupled with old age, the 88 years old prelate has gone home. He died at Annunciation Hospital, Enugu, where he went for medical check-up.
The Catholic Diocese of Orlu is indeed mourning the demise of this great servant, the man whose name is synonymous with the diocese. Worthy of note is the fact that Late Bishop Ochiagha hailed from Mbano and was not a son of Orlu Diocese but very respected during his tenure and after in the entire diocese.
Indeed the Catholic Church lost a great iroko and heaven has gained a soul. RIP the Lord’s soldier of faith, Most Rev. Dr. Gregory Obinna Ochiagha!

The heavens rejoice as a soul who served in the Lords vineyard has been admitted into God's glorious kingdom. You were very faithful and stood for the truth and justice. With Your passing unto glory,May all the priest and the laity council and all who work in the Lords vineyard emulate your virtues and serve God in truth and in spirit. The priest in the Catholic diocese of orlu must stand resolute in defending their faith in our Lord Jesus spreading the gospel of truth to our political leaders, traditional leaders, and all who have been called upon to serve their fatherland to protect this nation from disintegration.
The name Bishop Gregory Ochiagha was synonymous with the Catholic Diocese of Orlu. Bishop Ochiagha's maturity and leadership skill is truly outstanding. I respect him because of how he carries his digits of personhood and office. May God bless his soul and grant him rest.
RIP man of God !
