In a commendable gesture aimed at strengthening environmental sanitation in Abia State, the Catholic Diocese of Umuahia has donated two brand-new electric street sweeper and scraper vehicles to the Abia State Government.
The donation, which is part of the Diocese’s contribution to promoting a cleaner and healthier environment, especially in Umuahia, the state capital underscores the strong, cordial, and symbiotic relationship between the Church and the State Government.
While presenting the keys to government representatives, the Catholic Bishop of Umuahia, Most Rev. Michael Kalu Ukpong, applauded the Abia State Government for its consistent commitment to environmental cleanliness.
He commended the Governor and the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) for their efforts in making Abia a more habitable and healthy place.

The Bishop thereafter blessed the vehicles and formally handed over the keys. The event was witnessed by staff of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) as well as some Clergy and laity of the Catholic Diocese of Umuahia, who gathered to appreciate the thoughtful and impactful gesture.
