The Distinguished lawmaker representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), has expressed sadness over the passage of Former Nigerian Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazuluike Amechi, saying ‘an Iroko has fallen!’
Ekwunife said, “I received with sadness the news of the death of our most revered elder statesman, Chief Mbazuluike Amechi”.
“I have many fond memories of Chief Amechi, who before his death was the only surviving Minister of the First Republic and member of NCNC.”
“The Ukpor-born nationalist fought for independence from the clutches of colonialism. He remained vocal on national issues until his last day. I am proud to say that he lived in my generation.”
“On behalf of my family and the good people of Anambra Central Senatorial District, I commiserate with the entire Ukpor community and Anambra State at large. May God grant late Chief Amechi eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear this great loss!”
