The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Aguene, has pleaded with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to ensure lasting peace in Nigeria.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Aguene stated this in his office at Ikoyi, Lagos, on the heels of agitation for the release of Nnamdi Kanu by some Nigerians.

Chief Aguene, also known as Udo Chia Ndigbo, explained that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu should be seen as an activist likewise President Tinubu who fought over the years for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria.

He recalled that President Tinubu put his life on the line during the Military era to the extent that he went on exile, noting that if some Nigerians did not participate in activism during the Military rule,  probably there will be no democratic government in Nigeria.

He explained that probably Nnamdi Kanu may have learnt activism from President Tinubu and he started using it for the agitation of Biafra through IPOB.

He further stated that if Nnamdi Kanu is released, it will pass a strong message that President Tinubu has restored unity and peace, which will end the agitations of IPOB and restore peace in the Southeast and indeed Nigeria.

He noted that the detention of Mazi Kanu has contributed to the security challenges in the Southeast and by releasing him, the criminal elements will not have any reason to be using IPOB  to ccommit crime under the guise of agitation.

Aguene stated that President Tinubu has been trying to fix Nigeria since he came into power and added that he needs to try more in the areas of economic hardship and security challenges in Nigeria so that the people will have more confidence in him.

On the 2027, he posited that it is time for the INEC to prepare and conduct credible election so that our democracy will be strengthened and accepted internationally.

He called on Ndigbo to continue to support both the Lagos State and Federal Government and obey the laws of the land.

He also noted the challenges facing Ndigbo and advised them to continue to do their businesses even in the face of economic problems as they will come out of it as pragmatic people in the world.
