As Anambra State joined other states across the Federation to celebrate this year’s Children’s Day, the APGA hopeful for Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon Ekene Enefe, has enjoined the good people of  Oyi/Ayamelum to join in the world’s campaign  against violence on children

Enefe, who made this disclosure at the 2018 National Children’s Day celebration on Sunday in Ogbunike, said the celebration has focused on ensuring adequate protection against violence on children everywhere they are.

Enefe described violence against children as ubiquitous, adding that it occurred everywhere both in school, and at home.

The National theme for this year’s celebration: “Creating Safe Spaces for Children: Our Collective Responsibility.’’ was chosen to ensuring adequate protection of children.

Enefe said “the issue of child safety has become a major concern to many stakeholders, and that informed my decision to run an aggressive sensitization and awareness campaign towards ensuring  safety of our children in Oyi/Ayamelum and Anambra at large”.

He noted that Chief Willie Obiano’s administration has placed high priority on investing in children, stressing that it is the greatest investment any government can make. He hammered on the necessity of NGOs to resume sensitization rallies to advocate end to violence on children.

As part of this year’s Children’s Day celebration, Ekene Enefe had rolled out plans to have a robust interaction with  children from Oyi/Ayamelum, in terms of sensitizing them to the issues bothering on safety. Also, in his usual tradition, he will play host to these children in his country home.

The APGA House of Rep hopeful advised stakeholders including parents, families, religious bodies, and the general public to spend “quality time” with their children and instill moral values in them. He also urged them to be conscious of the safety of their children, adding that they are their future, pride and heritage that God has given unto them.
