The Chairman of Civil Liberty Organization, CLO, Anambra State branch and social critic, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, has pleaded with church leaders to reciprocate huge public funds invested in mission hospitals and schools by Obi and Obiano administrations by reducing cost of services to the people.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ezekwueme made the remarks during the visit by some human rights group in his hospital bed, where he was still undergoing treatment and recovering from recent a ghastly accident.

He said: “It is pertinent and imperative to note that the early missionaries brought hospitals and schools and rendered selfless services freely in order to win early converts to Christianity. Unfortunately, today the reverse is the case. The torrents of complaints and displeasures by citizens and my personal experiences have made it inevitable and inexorable for me to reiterate my earlier appeal for our revered church leaders to reduce drastically cost of services they renders in their schools and hospitals”.
“The church is the hospital for the sick, comfort for uncomfortable, hope for hopeless, and joy and love for the afflicted and poor. Christians must embrace good motive of doing good for ones country and its citizens.”
He advised that Church leaders should constitute committees to monitor the conducts of staff in their schools and hospitals as some of the behaviours of their staff bring disrepute to the churches.
He emphasized the need for the Church to always show the light and the way for others to follow and the standard set by our earlier missionaries should sustained and maintained.
Ezekwueme had an accident while travelling from Onitsha to Abuja, which he attributed to bad roads. Though he survived the accident, he sustained several injuries in the process which landed him in the hospital where he is receiving treatment.
