Civil Liberty Organisation, CLO, has called on town union leaders of various communities in Anambra State to enlighten their youths on dangers of cultism, armed robbery and other crimes.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the group made the call in a statement signed by its Chairman, Mr. Vincent Ezekwueme, and made available to the press.
Ezekwueme spoke in reaction to the increasing spate of cultism attacks and subsequent arrests of the teeming youths, who indulged in the acts by the Police.
The Police Command in the state had raided and arrested no fewer than 450 suspected members of various cultism groups between May and November.
The human rights group expressed concern at the development, describing it as “unfortunate and condemnable”.
“It is of prime importance to note that they are the hope of the future and leaders in waiting.
“A nation without hardworking, educative, creative, precious, assiduous and God-fearing youths just like the present will be very bleak, if nothing is done to salvage the situation” he said.
Ezekwueme said investing in youths and their future was a veritable catalyst for positive change and socio-economic, political and spiritual development necessary for the state. He said such seminar would provide a platform to inculcate moral rectitude, core values system, patriotism, selfless and fear of God in them.
“Significantly, it should be an opportunity to imbibe in them sense of reason, restore confidence and self worth, remove fear of unknown as most of them joined cultism out of ignorance and fear, false sense of security, power and intelligence.” The CLO boss said.
The Chairman commended the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. John Abang, and the State Anti-Cultism office for their relentless efforts in combating and preventing crimes.
