A number of socio-cultural bodies of the Igbo youths have openly endorsed the candidature of Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu for Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the SouthEast.
The groups, which are 22 in number, came under the auspices of Nzuko Okorobia Ndigbo had in a communiqué described the ambition of Arodiogbu as worthy of repositioning the party in the zone and rebuilding the political fortunes of Ndigbo.
Part of the communique stated as follows:
“ Haven witnessed the present situation in the SouthEast Region in which our politics as a people has been overshadowed by some sort of sort of ideology in which our people continuously continue to be shortchanged, the possible emergence of Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu as the next Zonal Chairman of APC SouthEast will be the signal of a new and advantaged beginning as Dr. Arodiogbu fits the numerous quality demands of a Zonal chair, particularly the SouthEast zone.”
“We insist on the candidature of Dr. Arodiogbu as his antecedents as a scholar, an academic, community mobilizer and a grassrooted politician speaks volumes and should help return the region’s politics to its glory days as witnessed within the First and Second Republics.”
The coalition also announced its intention to heavily mobilize delegates from the APC within the SouthEast in order to ensure a resounding victory for Dr. Arodiogbu.
Arodiogbu is a senior lecturer in the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, Imo State University.
