The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, has charged the management staff of the Ministry to maintain a high level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties at all times.
He gave the charge during the ongoing Year 2024 Strategic Management Retreat For GL 15 -17, themed: “Engendering Gender Equality, Social Inclusion and Youth Development in a Diverse Environment ” organised by the Ministry at Jubilee Chalet, Epe.
“We have to be professional in the way we discharge our duties wherever we find ourselves in the Ministry. Be it in Social Welfare, Rehabilitation or Youth Development let’s be professional in the way we do things so that we can give nothing but the best to members of the public we are here to serve. At the same time, we need trust, integrity, passion and transparency to be able to successfully navigate any terrain”, the Commissioner said.
Mr. Ogunlende also urged the management staff to recalibrate and come out of their comfort zone to be able to adjust to the emerging trends created by the social media world.
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the Retreat was a programme for the participants to celebrate the achievements of the Ministry while taking advantage of it for self-reassessment to acquire new skills and knowledge required for effective and efficient service delivery to Lagosians.
“The purpose of this retreat is for every one of us to learn, unlearn and relearn. It is for us to acquire the knowledge and skills we need to do things differently. As social workers, members of the public are expecting a lot from us. The THEMES Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has made it mandatory for us to put in more effort. While we need to celebrate our achievements, we cannot afford to rest on our oars because there is more to be done for us to achieve our objectives as a Ministry”, the Permanent Secretary noted.
