Just as Muslims around the world observe the religious fasting between dawn and sunset for 30 days, the faithful in the Africa’s largest ICT hub, Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, gathered in the mood of the season for a Ramadan lecture on Thursday 6th April, 2023.
The lecture, which focused on the topic “Holding On to Allah At the Time of Ease and Difficulties”, took place on Osundairo Street, by Skye Bank, Computer Village, Ikeja.
The Guest Lecturer, Sheikh Muritala Alade Adedokun, from Mudeer Annahdhor Islamic Institute, Alimosho, Lagos, did justice to the topic of the discussion as he charged the Muslim Ummah on the need to identify the pleasure of Allah. He cited a good example with Qarun Sohibul Janatain and Prophet Sulayman while x-raying how they dealt with Allah’s pleasure over them.
Sheikh Adedokun highlighted that people deal with difficulties in different ways according to the level of their understanding of Allah. He stated that some of the people, who do not believe in predestination often lose hope in the face of difficult situations and end up taking their lives. He equally highlighted that there are people also who believe that the solutions to their challenges and difficult situations can be found outside of Islam. But the respected cleric charged and recommended that the Muslim Ummah must always rely on Allah just like Prophet Ayoub, who kept his trust in Allah during his trials and tribulations.
The lecturer also recommended that during Ramadan the Muslim Ummah should practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate, thus encouraging actions of generosity and compulsory charity (zakat) while charging the people on prayers, charity, and reflecting on the Quran.
The Ramadan lecture ended on an exciting note with the quiz session and closing prayers.
