The executives of the Computer and Allied Products Dealers Association of Nigeria (CAPDAN), have visited the Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Wasiu Anifowose, to give clarification on recent publications allegedly credited to him concerning the relocation of Computer Village Ikeja on or before December, 2017.

Speaking during the visit, CAPDAN President, Mr Adeniyi Ahmed Ojikutu thanked the commissioner for providing the opportunity for them to meet with him despite his tight schedule.
He expressed his shock and that of his members about the news of the relocation of the market by December. Quoting some international reports recognising Computer Village as the largest ICT Hub in Africa, that it would be a great loss if Lagos State government should mismanage this uncommon opportunity by allowing the market to disintegrate due to relocation process.
He further requested that ‘whatever the government wants to do that the stakeholders should have direct involvement not only in decision making and also in the implementations of the project.
Ojikutu continued, “We need adequate communication to be able to trickle it down to our members for easy cooperation between the people and the government”.
In his response, the commissioner said there was nothing like moving the Computer Village market latest by December in the address he made.
He said, “I addressed the press but I never mentioned anything like that”
He further explained that the reason for moving the market is to create a conducive environment for the market and wherever they would be relocated to must be ready first before the relocation proper.
The Commissioner added that the type of structure the government has in mind is not the type that would be ready in six months.
The commissioner appreciated the association for the visit and gave more assurance about the readiness of the ministry and the government as a whole to carry along the stakeholders in all their activities regarding the relocation.
