In continuation of the environmental sanitation and enforcement drive across Ikeja, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), today carried out inspection visits to Alade Market and the Allen Avenue environs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote a cleaner environment.

The inspection exercise formed part of the Chairman’s commitment to maintaining proper sanitation standards across markets, streets and public spaces within the local government area. During the visit, Chairman AKOD emphasized the need for traders, shop owners and residents to take collective responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean, orderly and safe.

Accompanying the Chairman on the inspection were officials from the Department of Environment and Sanitation of Ikeja Local Government, led by the Head of Department, Sanitarian Omotayo.

Also present as part of the enforcement team were the newly sworn-in Supervisors and Special Advisers in Ikeja Local Government, who joined in monitoring compliance and engaging with residents and traders on the importance of environmental cleanliness.

Comrade Dauda reiterated that the sanitation and enforcement exercise is in fulfillment of the “E” pillar of the I.K.E.J.A Agenda, which is focused on ensuring a clean, healthy and safer environment for all residents of Ikeja. He noted that maintaining environmental standards is a collective responsibility and called on residents to support the efforts of the local government in sustaining a hygienic and orderly community.

The Council Chairman further assured residents that the environmental sanitation and enforcement exercise will continue across different parts of Ikeja to promote public health, improve environmental safety and enhance the overall quality of life for the people.
