The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has assured APC members and party faithful in Ikeja Federal Constituency of his commitment, alongside his counterparts in Ojodu and Onigbogbo Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), to supporting the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dauda gave the assurance at the inauguration of the Local Government Campaign Committee covering Ikeja, Ojodu and Onigbogbo, organised by the APC Ikeja Federal Constituency under the theme, “Unity, Commitment and Grassroots Participation”.
He pledged that the three councils would provide the necessary moral and financial support to strengthen the party’s mobilisation efforts and encourage greater voter participation across the constituency.
The chairman expressed concern over the APC’s performance in the last presidential election in the constituency, lamenting that the party lost by about 10,000 votes, a margin he described as unacceptable.
“This coming election is a Lagos project. We have to take the bull by the horns,” he said, urging party members to work collectively to address the challenges that contributed to the previous electoral outcome.
Dauda noted that many APC members had benefited from the party at different levels and urged them to demonstrate their commitment through active participation in grassroots mobilisation.
He also expressed concern over the low turnout recorded during the last Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), collection exercise, stressing the need for renewed efforts to encourage eligible voters to collect their cards and participate in the electoral process.
“Election today is run by data and science. Let us work with our ward chairmen and develop strategies for social mobilisation within our constituency,” he said.
He disclosed that the constituency was targeting more than 200,000 voters, urging party leaders and members to adopt strategic, ward-based approaches to voter engagement and mobilisation.
Also speaking at the event, Mrs Bolanle Odunmbaku, wife of the Ojodu LCDA Chairman, who represented the wives of the three council chairmen, commended party faithful for their efforts in preparation for the 2027 elections.
She observed that it was the first time the wives of the three council chairmen had been invited to participate in a party function of this nature, describing the initiative as an opportunity to strengthen their involvement in party activities.
She pledged their support for the party’s mobilisation efforts and called for greater unity and participation among members.
Among those present were the Chairman of Onigbogbo LCDA, Hon. Segun David Odunmbaku; the Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Omisore Adebanjo; and Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikeja Constituency, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, alongside other party leaders and faithful.
