Comrade Dauda Hands Over Six Vehicles To Ikeja Lawmakers, Strengthens Legislative Oversight

In a bid to strengthen the oversight functions of the legislative arm of Ikeja Local Government, the Executive Chairman, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has presented six official vehicles to members of the Ikeja Legislative Council to enhance their effectiveness in lawmaking and oversight responsibilities

Comrade Dauda said the gesture underscores his administration’s commitment to promoting good governance through a strong, independent and well-equipped legislature, noting that the legislative arm plays a critical role in enacting byelaws and ensuring accountability in governance.

The presentation ceremony, witnessed by political associates and members of staff of the council, was a memorable occasion for the beneficiaries.

 

The lawmakers who received the vehicles were the Leader of the House, Hon. Ogunseye Rasheed Adisa (Ward A); Deputy Leader, Hon. Shakirat Idowu Jinadu (Ward B); Majority Leader and Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Hon. Lawal Ganiu (Ward F); Chief Whip, Hon. Salami Idris Opeyemi (Ward D); Chairman, House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Folami Babatunde (Ward E); and Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Obadeyo Olayinka (Ward C).

Official vehicles were also presented to the Mrs. Odubeko Juliana Taiwo, Council Manager and the Head of Finance, Mr. Ojikutu Oluwadebowale, to support efficient service delivery.

 

Speaking on behalf of the legislators, the Leader of the House, Hon. Ogunseye Rasheed Adisa, expressed profound appreciation to Comrade Comrade Dauda for the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of the Chairman’s commitment to effective governance and respect for the principle of separation of powers.

He said the vehicles would significantly enhance the lawmakers’ efficiency in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities and pledged the legislature’s continued commitment to a productive and cordial working relationship with the executive arm for the overall development of Ikeja.

The presentation reflects the AKOD administration’s resolve to provide the necessary tools and support for every arm of government to function optimally in delivering quality governance and improved services to the people of Ikeja.
