Comrade Dauda Hosts Interfaith Breaking Of Fast, Promotes Unity And Peace In Ikeja

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), yesterday hosted an Interfaith Breaking of Fast at the Marriage Registry Hall, Ikeja Local Government Secretariat.

The event, which was the second of its kind during the sacred period of Ramadan and Lent, brought together key stakeholders across the Ikeja community in a remarkable display of unity, religious harmony, and communal solidarity.

Among dignitaries in attendance were leaders of the Ikeja chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) led by Chief Mobolaji Ganiyu, popularly known as Soku Sembe. The gathering also had in attendance traditional rulers within Ikeja including the Regent of Ikeja, High Chief Isiaka Apena; the Baale of Alausa, Chief Toyin Mufutau Badmus; the Baale of Anifowoshe, Chief Semiu; and other respected traditional leaders.

In his brief remarks, the Ikeja Chairman appreciated all attendees for honouring the invitation and emphasized that the initiative was designed to foster unity, peace, and progress within the Ikeja community while strengthening engagement with key stakeholders.

Comrade Dauda particularly thanked the traditional rulers for their continued cooperation, support, and prayers for the growth and development of Ikeja. The Executive Chairman also commended members of the NURTW for their conduct within the local government area and encouraged them to sustain their efforts towards ensuring smoother traffic management across the council area.

The event was also graced by the Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore; the Leader of the Ikeja Legislative Council, Hon. Rasheed Ogunseye; councillors from Wards B to F; the Secretary to the Local Government, Prince Yinka Illo; political leaders from Ikeja, Ojodu, and Onigbongbo; the APC Chairman, Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Adetoro Adebowale; the APC Chairperson in Ojodu, Alhaja Olusola Kokumo; Hon. Yomi Balogun; Olori Lola Bashorun; Alhaji Kehinde Onifade; Dr. Bayo Ayo; and Barr. Ajala Ganiyu Olawale (A.G.O), among other notable personalities.

The event concluded with the symbolic breaking of fast, prayers for peace and continued progress in Ikeja, and renewed commitments by stakeholders to work collectively for the development of the community.
