Comrade Dauda Leads Environmental Enforcement Exercise In Ikeja

In a decisive move to reinforce environmental sanity and public health standards across Ikeja, the Executive Chairman, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Thursday, 26th February, 2026, personally led a comprehensive environmental enforcement exercise within the Local Government Area.

The operation commenced at Alade, off Awolowo Road, where illegal shanties erected in violation of environmental and urban planning regulations were removed. These structures had not only defaced the environment but also posed health, security, and safety risks to residents and passersby. Their removal underscores the administration’s zero tolerance for environmental degradation and unauthorized developments.

Comrade Dauda, alongside officials of the Environment and Sanitation Department led by Sanitarian (Mrs.) Omotosho, proceeded on an inspection tour across Allen/Allen/Alausa axis. During the exercise, several companies and commercial outlets found contravening environmental laws particularly in waste disposal, setback encroachment, and general sanitation practices were issued stern warnings and served compliance notices.

The affected establishments were strongly advised to immediately regularize their environmental practices and align with stipulated standards to avoid strict sanctions, including the sealing up of their premises in accordance with extant laws.

Speaking during the exercise, Chairman AKOD reiterated that environmental protection is a collective responsibility and a non-negotiable priority of his administration. He emphasized that Ikeja, as the capital city of Lagos State, must set the benchmark in cleanliness, orderliness, and regulatory compliance.

This enforcement drive aligns squarely with the “E” Pillar (Environment) of the I.K.E.J.A AGENDA; the master blueprint of the administration which prioritizes environmental sustainability, urban renewal, public health safety, and strict adherence to sanitation laws. The Chairman affirmed that such monitoring and enforcement operations will be sustained and intensified to ensure that Ikeja remains clean, safe, and business-friendly.

 

Residents and corporate organizations are therefore enjoined to partner with the government by maintaining proper waste management practices, adhering to environmental guidelines, and refraining from actions that compromise the aesthetic and sanitary standards of the community.

 

In the enforcement team with the Chairman were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore, the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Chief Adeniyi Adeyi, the 5 councillors representing Wards B to F in Ikeja Local Government. The administration remains committed to building a cleaner, healthier, and more organized Ikeja for all.
