The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), yesterday led Council officials on the weekly environmental sanitation exercise across key areas of Ikeja as part of his administration’s commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
Actively participating in the exercise, the Council Chairman, Comrade Dauda reaffirmed that environmental sanitation remains a collective responsibility, stressing that a clean environment is essential for preventing the spread of diseases, improving public health, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
He urged residents to desist from indiscriminate disposal of refuse, particularly the practice of blocking drainages and waterways, warning that such acts contribute to flooding and environmental hazards, especially during the rainy season.
The LG Chairman assured residents that the weekly sanitation exercise will continue as part of the Council’s sustained efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and create a safer, healthier, and more livable Ikeja for all.
