The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has pledged to support the development projects and humanitarian initiatives of St. Leo Catholic Church, Ikeja.
Dauda made the pledge at the church’s Harvest Luncheon, following an appeal for support to address critical infrastructure needs, including electricity and the improvement of its healthcare facilities.
The church disclosed that approximately ₦330 million was required to execute some of its priority projects and address identified challenges.
The council chairman commended the church for its contributions to community welfare through free food distribution, scholarships for indigent students and affordable healthcare services.
He assured the church of his administration’s willingness to partner with it in advancing initiatives that improve residents’ welfare, adding that he would also engage other relevant leaders to explore additional support for the projects.
Dauda expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that improved allocations to local governments following the removal of the fuel subsidy had enhanced their capacity to respond to community needs.
He also acknowledged the prayers and support of religious leaders, reaffirming his commitment to collaborating with St. Leo Catholic Church in promoting community development.
The Harvest Luncheon was chaired by Prince Kayode Olubiran, Esq., who delivered the welcome address, while Sir Dan Egwu KSM coordinated the appeal for donations and support.
The event brought together church leaders, members and invited guests to raise funds for the church’s infrastructure, healthcare and humanitarian programmes.
