The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has received 15 beneficiaries of The Business Mindset and Market Power Programme facilitated by Lagos Business School in collaboration with Junior Chamber International (JCI), Ikeja, and sponsored by Ikeja Local Government.
The beneficiaries were drawn from the six wards in Ikeja, the Nigeria Youth Council and staff of Ikeja Local Government.
Receiving them, Comrade Dauda congratulated the beneficiaries, describing the training as an opportunity for personal growth and development.
He recalled how a youth programme he attended as a secondary school student inspired his journey into leadership and public service.
“No knowledge is lost. I attended a similar youth programme during my secondary school days, and the experience inspired me. That is why we must continue to invest in our young people,” AKOD said.
The Council Chairman said his administration would continue to support youth-focused programmes, including education, skills development and empowerment initiatives, to inspire young people and bring them closer to opportunities.
“Our youths are leaders of today and tomorrow. My dream is to see more great leaders emerge from Ikeja. We can have future Presidents, Governors and other leaders coming from among our young people,” he said.
Comrade Dauda urged the beneficiaries to apply the knowledge acquired and share the lessons with other young people in their communities.
He also encouraged youths with innovative ideas to submit proposals and explore opportunities for collaboration with the local government.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Supervisor for Youth and Sports, Hon. Ayetunde Adenuga, thanked Comrade Dauda for his investment in youth development.
“It is obvious that the youth are a priority to you. We appreciate your continued support and investment in the young people of Ikeja,” Adenuga said.
The beneficiaries presented their certificates to the Executive Chairman and expressed appreciation to Ikeja Local Government for sponsoring their participation in the programme.
