Comrade Dauda Seeks Stronger Partnership With Computer Village Plaza Chairmen

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has called for stronger collaboration between the council and stakeholders in Computer Village to improve security, environmental sanitation, revenue generation and the overall business environment.

 

Speaking during an interactive session with Plaza Chairmen in Computer Village, Ikeja, Comrade Dauda said his administration is committed to leadership by example and would continue to engage stakeholders in addressing challenges affecting the ICT hub.

 

The chairman assured the traders that the council would work with them to resolve issues relating to drainage, taxation, security and regulatory compliance, while pledging to eliminate illegal revenue collection by unauthorized agents.

He also promised to engage the Lagos State Government on issues affecting the market, stressing that Computer Village remains Ikeja’s flagship corporate market and deserves a cleaner, safer and technology-driven environment. He urged traders to pay their statutory taxes, assuring them of transparency, fairness and continuous consultation.

The Council Chairman, Comrade Dauda, further disclosed plans to deploy technology and accurate data management to improve governance, revenue collection, traffic management and service delivery within the market. He said the council was developing a business plan that would introduce digital payment systems and other innovative solutions in partnership with stakeholders, adding that constructive criticism and fresh ideas from Computer Village operators would be welcomed.

 

Responding on behalf of the plaza owners, Chairman of the Plaza Heads in Computer Village, Mr. Chukwuka Ekekwe, commended the initiative, describing the meeting as a foundation for a stronger relationship between the local government and traders. He urged the council to sustain regular consultations with market leaders and highlighted the need for improved security, public toilets, street lighting and a fully digital revenue collection system that reflects Computer Village’s status as West Africa’s leading ICT market.
