The National President Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria and President General Orashi National Congress, Most Snr. Comrade Amb Emeni Ibe, has strongly condemned in its entirety the mindless and reckless killing of Lt Col Abdullahi Hassan Ali, Two(2) Majors, One(1) Captain and 12 other brave Nigerian Soldiers from 181 Amphibious Battalion in Bomadi Town, who where on official duty to restore peace and tranquility in Okuama community in Ughelli South LGA of Delta State.
In a statement signed by Comrade Emeni Ibe on behalf of the Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria and Orashi National Congress, he said, “Notwithstanding, we see the lingering age-long communal crises ignited by land dispute between two sister coastal communities, Okoloba and Okuama not just as compounded collective miscalculation, but as deleterious signpost of profund failure of traditional and political leadership to manage communal issues in most peaceful and beneficial manner”.
“The abysmal leadership formulation became evident when some barbaric bludgeon of mentally disabled and morally rapscallion youths from Okoloba Community were said to have murdered Igho Meshack, Godspower Awusa and Okiemute Agbabuleke, identified as youths from Okuama community returning from a function in Okwagbe community. In reprisal, some disgruntled youths from Okuama Community reportedly captured and held hostage one Anthony Aboh from Okoloba community, this was the point where Nigerian Soldiers were called in to enforce peace and rescue of the hostages.”
“We are shocked as well as saddened by the negative turn of events in the mentioned communities, especially now that most neglected and depraved oil and gas producing region is trying to recalibrate its social harmony compass for sustainable human and infrastructural development. The unprovoked and irrational killing of gallant Soldiers by bandwagon of roghish, monstrous and mischievous militia remains highly condemnable act of unparallel brutishness and aggressive rebellion that bypassed stratospheric summit in the annals of human infamy.”
“We wish to condole with the Chief of Army Staff and families of the slain soldiers. We appeal to the Military Authority to exercise combat discretion in identifying and fishing out the culprits involved in the killings, to avoid repeat of the collateral damage that put Odi community in the dark page of history in 1999, while we urge Federal Government and Delta State Government to immediately constitute high powered Panel Of Enquiry to ascertain the true State of things in both communities”
Snr Comrade (Amb) Emeni Ibe concluded.
