A 49-year old man, Rasheed Odumuyiwa has landed in trouble after he allegedly caused confusion by renting a room and parlour apartment for N1.6m to three tenants and bolted away with their money.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect was arrested and charged before a Lagos court for the alleged offence and remanded in prison custody.
The incident happened at 25 Abimbola Street in Agege, Lagos where the house is located.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the alleged scam caused serious rift among the three tenants who struggled to take possession before the police intervened.
The victims, Amodu Usman, Stephen Newton and Mayowa Atemgbola reportedly met the suspect to rent the vacant apartment.
It was gathered that the suspect rented the apartment separately to the victims without them knowing it was a scam.
The police at Agege division later trailed the suspect, arrested him and detained him at the station.
He reportedly admitted he rented out the apartment to the victims and had spent the money.
Odumuyiwa was charged before Ogba Magistrates court for conspiracy and obtaining under false pretence.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr T.O.Shomade granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 12 August 2017.
