The lawmaker representing Ikeja 2 Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK), has assured his constituents of lasting solution to the environmental challenges in the state.
Hon Kasunmu gave the assurance today during the Constituency Stakeholders’Meeting held at the Eko FM Multi-Purpose Hall, LTV 8 Premises, Lateef Jakande Way, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
The lawmaker, who was the Chief Host of the meeting with the theme “Environmental Challenges: Community Engagement To Facilitate Lasting Solution”, in his keynote address said that the Lagos State House of Assembly, being a proactive House, seeks to interact and engage constituents in the art of governance and ensure that their inputs count in the affairs of the state.
Hon Kasunmu hinted that through past meetings, the House has been able to garner more understanding of the socio-economic and infrastructural challenges in the various constituencies across Lagos State. He said that following extensive deliberation at its plenary session on Tuesday 23rd July, 2019, the House decided to focus on the increasing and threatening environmental issues in the state including flooding, drainage related matters and the need to proffer necessary solutions.
Lending his voice, Hon Bunmi Oluyadi, Vice Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, who represented the Chairman, Engr. Julius Oloro, in his welcome address said that tackling environmental challenges is not the responsibility of government alone as constituents have their parts to play towards ensuring a clean and sound society.
The interactive session offered the constituents opportunity to ask questions, make comments and suggest solutions.
In his response, Hon Kasunmu promised that as the foremost state legislature, which takes the welfare of its people as paramount and diligent in its primary responsibilities, he and his Honourable colleagues at the State House of Assembly having listened to the people, will articulate policies and bills aimed at bringing lasting solution to the socio-economic and infrastructural challenges across Lagos State. He thanked the party leaders, religious leaders, community leaders and constituents who spared time out of their busy schedules to be part of the event.
The meeting attracted dignitaries, distinguished All Progressives Congress leaders, elders, community leaders including a huge number of constituents from Ikeja Local Government and Ojodu LCDA.
