Côte d’Ivoire has been removed from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring, commonly known as the grey list, following significant reforms to strengthen its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing framework.

The decision was announced on Friday, October 30, 2026, after the FATF plenary meeting at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) headquarters in Paris.

The removal reflects the West African country’s progress in implementing institutional, legislative, regulatory and operational measures to align its financial crime prevention framework with international standards.

In a statement welcoming the development, the Ivorian Government attributed the achievement to the leadership of President Alassane Ouattara and the coordination of the Vice-President, alongside sustained efforts by the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and other members of the government.

It also commended public institutions, private sector operators, professional bodies and technical teams for their contributions to implementing the country’s action plan.

The government acknowledged the support of the FATF, the Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA) and its technical and financial partners in ensuring the successful execution of the reforms within the agreed timeframe.

It described the decision as a major boost to Côte d’Ivoire’s international credibility and standing, noting that the removal from increased monitoring would strengthen confidence in the country’s financial and institutional systems.

However, the government stressed that the achievement should not mark the end of the reform process, but rather serve as an impetus to sustain progress and ensure the long-term effectiveness of measures against money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing.

It reaffirmed its commitment to consolidating the reforms and maintaining a robust national framework for combating financial crime.
