A woman, Mrs. Ojiugo David Kelechi, who allegedly forced hot water down the throat of her 10-year old househelp, Miss Ifunanya Ede, has been denied bail by the Court.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that an Abia State High Court sitting in Umuahia declined her bail application over the alleged inhuman treatment.

The Presiding Judge, Hon Justice KC J. Okereke, ruled that the 10-year old victim suffered severe pain over the abuse she suffered in the hand of her employer.

It has been reported how the woman, Ojiugo David Kelechi, a member of Christ Embassy Church, Umuahia, forced very hot water down the throat of the victim, Miss Ifunanya, which affected the whole internal organs of the little girl.

The woman, Ojiugo, upon fear of the girl’s likely death in her custody, went to a pharmacy shop in Umuahia to get over-the-counter drugs for her but was advised by the pharmacist to seek help at the closest hospital but she vehemently refused. Ojiugo’s blunt refusal was what prompted the owner of the pharmacy to alert the Police.

According to the Presiding Judge, the defendant, Mrs. Ojiugo David Kelechi, reportedly made efforts to kidnap the victim after she was taken to the hospital but failed. She was said to have also boasted to deal with the owner of the pharmacy for daring to alert the people and the Police over the matter.

She was also alleged to have boasted that she would flee the country once granted bail as her travel visas were ready. On hearing this, the Court said it did not go down well with the society and for the interest of justice in the society; she is to be remanded in prison custody.
