A confirmed armed robber, Abdurrahman Yakubu, has been sentenced to death by hanging for multiple armed robbery including robbing a female lawyer, Barrister Hajara Lawal Ahmad, of her car during an operation in Kano State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the judgment of the Kano State High Court, which found Yakubu guilty of armed robbery and sentenced him accordingly under the Criminal Laws of the State.

The presiding judge, Justice Nasir Saminu, found the convict guilty and ordered that he should be executed by hanging for stealing the car and an undisclosed amount of money from the victim with force of arms. The Police also recovered the arms as exhibits before the Court.

The convict, Yakubu, from Bele Local Government Area in Nassarawa State, was found guilty of multiple counts of armed robbery with dangerous weapons. Some of his victims included a woman, Barrister Hajara Lawal Ahmad, from whom he stole a car and an unspecified sum of money.

The presiding judge, Justice Saminu, said the court found that the government lawyer, Barrister Umar Yakubu, proved his case beyond reasonable doubt and thus dismissed the defence put forward by Yakubu.

The Court also found that firearms recovered from Yakubu were illegal and were being put to criminal use; hence, he will have to be executed by hanging to serve as deterrent to others who might want to commit such crimes in future.
