For disobeying a court order, Aminu, the son of a former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, was on Wednesday remanded in the transit cell of Tinubu Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Aminu was alleged to have disobeyed an order made by Chief Magistrate Kikelomo Ayeye on October 11 over the custody of six-year-old Amir Abubakar, who he was alleged to have forcefully taken away from the custody of his estranged wife, Fatimo Bolori.

Chief Magistrate Ayeye had earlier ordered the respondent in the suit marked FCL/29/2017, between U. F. Bolori Vs M. A. Abubakar to produce Amir Abubakar at the first hearing of the case.

It was gathered that when the case came up on Wednesday for the discharge of “Emergency, Evacuation/Protection Order” made by the court, the Chief Magistrate Ayeye was informed that the parties were planning to settle out of court.

In response, Bolori’s lawyer, Nwabuzor Okoh, denied receiving any notification from the respondent to settle out of court.

Consequently, Ayeye cited Aminu for contempt for disobeying court order issued on October 11.

She ordered that the former Vice President’s son be remanded in transit cell and the case stood down pending when he would produce the boy.

Aminu and his wife got married in Borno State in 2007 and enjoyed a five-year marriage before their union was dissolved by a Sharia Court in Maiduguri in 2011.

The children were living with their mother, Fatimo and there was an arrangement that the kids should be allowed to spend their vacation with their father.
However, when the children were on holidays in 2013, Aminu requested that they should be released to him to travel abroad for vacation and thereafter, refused to let them return to their mother.

Following their separation, Fatimo had on October 11 secured a court injunction to take custody of their daughter upon reports that her children who have been with their father, were lacking motherly care.

The court document also revealed that their 8-year-old daughter sent numerous text messages to the mother that she wasn’t happy at her father’s home and wanted to be with her.

When Fatima arrived their daughter’s school in Parkview Estate in Ikoyi last week Thursday, she could not go with the girl after Aminu stormed the school with his police escorts.

The estranged couple created a scene as they took over the street in the elitist estate, argued and raised voices at each other for over one hour until the DPO attached to the Divisional headquarters in Ikoyi arrived the scene.
