The Civil Liberty Organisation, CLO, Anambra State Chapter, ably led by Social Critic and Human Rights Activist, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, has pleaded with Nigerians to strictly observe Government and experts directives on how to stop the escalation of the dreadful Covid-19 pandemic ravaging the global community and not to see it as favour being done to government.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ezekwueme made the remarks during the visits of the Civil Liberty Organisation, CLO, Anambra State branch to ascertain the level of compliance with the government’s directive towards containing and controlling of ubiquitous escalation of the dreadful virus in the communities.
The CLO decried the low level of awareness and compliance as some of the citizens see it as a task and service to the government rather than a means to safeguard their lives and that of others.
“It is despicable that less than fifty percent of the citizenry do comply appropriately towards hand washing, wearing of face mask, whereas social and physical distancing were observed in breach.””It is of prime importance to note that wealth without health is living in a state of languor” he said.
Ezekwueme stated that it is important that the  citizens understand that observation of Covid-19 prevention protocol is for their interest and that of others if not the future just like the present will be very bleak.
“It is ineluctable and inexorable for us to collectively and collaboratively wage war against Covid-19 and free ourselves and our dear country from the deadly and horrendous pandemic” Ezekwueme said.
The CLO commended those who have provided palliative stimulus for indigents citizens and called on others to emulate them as life is not worth living for unless it is lived for others.
The CLO equally appealed to organised private sector to pay their workers as most of them are living in abject poverty.
“Government should put an end to arbitrary and inhuman sacking of workers and non payment of their salaries due to lockdown and compel their employers to do the needful. We thanks Anambra State Government for their unique and wise decision in introduction of On-Air Learning Programmes because when we stop reading, we stop learning, leading and living.””We passionately appeal to Hon. Com Prof Kate Omenugha to device means to increase the period of On -Air Learning and for other radio and Television stations to partner with the State Government in that regard.””Significantly due to porousness of our borders and inability of some Covid-19 Committees in the markets to strictly implement Government’s guidelines the Monitoring Committee becomes not only invaluable but inevitable” Ezekwueme maintained.
