A non-governmental organisation, Greater Awka Allies International, GAAI, has doubled its efforts and reiterated the need to assist the less privileged children in Anambra State.
Last week the group visited Model Community Children’s Orphanage home, Awka, and donated food items to the home.
The group, led by Hon Chinemerem Oguegbe, said that they decided to embark on the visit because of the economic realities of the Covid-19 epidemic. Chinemerem tasked the State Government to ensure that all safety guidelines and instructions be followed to ensure that motherless kids are protected from the ravaging virus.
Speaking on behalf of the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Anagor Patience thanked the group for such wonderful show of love to the orphanage home at this crucial time and asked God to bless the members of GAAI both in Nigeria and Diaspora.
Lady Aniagor, who is also the Director of Administration in the Ministry, said she is aware of the association’s assistance to the orphanage before now and pleaded that the association should continue to partner with the Ministry towards ensuring that vulnerable children in the state are adequately cared for.
Highlight of the visit was the official presentation of the food items by GAAI Director of Welfare, Mr. Zubby Chukwuka, as well as prayers from the kids to all members of GAAI
