COVID-19: Vincent N Vincent Foundation Gives Food Items To 400 Makoko Residents In Lagos

No fewer than 400 residents of Makoko Community in Lagos, Nigeria benefited from food items donated by Vincent N Vincent Foundation to assist them as a result of the lockdown being witnessed by Lagosians in the last three weeks.

President Muhammad Buhari ordered lockdown of Lagos, Ogun state and Abuja amid COVID-19. This has forced many Lagosians to remain in indoor as a way of containing the spread of the pandemic ravaging the world. The food materials were packaged by Vincent N Vincent Pharmaceutical Company to assist the needy who are facing tough time this period of the lockdown.

On Easter Monday, members of the Foundation arrived Makoko Community within Mainland Local Government in Lagos to distribute these food items to the old and young people. One of the beneficiaries, Irewunmi Modioluwamu, a 73-year-old said the food relief materials came when he was facing hardship with his family.

“I am happy that the relief materials came to us here in Makoko community when most of our people are dying of hunger. I think the food package will help my family survive the turbulent time,”he said.

Former chairman of Aiyetoro/Orioke Banana Community Development Area, Apostle Akintimeyin Adewale thanked the foundation for its kind gesture and urged the government to assist them during this period of lockdown in the state.

Meanwhile Afolabi Timothy,a member of the foundation expressed gratitude to God for successfully donated food items to residents of Makoko.

“Our foundation has complimented the effort of the government by assisting the masses in area of foods in our own little way as a way of our contribution to Lagos at large. We will not stop there because our foundation’s aim is to build elderly homes,care for both widows and widowers. Also our aim is to give scholarship and build hostels and IDP camp in Nigeria,”he said.

The foundation was set up by Ofoke don-Vincent Kelechi. The Vincent N Vincent Pharmaceutical Company sponsored the food items donated to Makoko community on Easter Monday. The foundation is not only based in Nigeria,it has bases in Kenya and Guinea.
