The shocking 3-0 loss suffered by Argentina in their clash against Croatia in the ongoing Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup finals has been described as a danger signal to the Super Eagles by Felix Anyansi, a board member of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
Speaking to PM EXPRESS immediately Croatia crushed Argentina in a humiliating defeat , Anyansi said that the most important thing is for Nigeria to make good impression against Iceland in their second match of the World Cup on Friday and get the maximum points at stake in order to restore confidence back into the team. He noted that the last group game of Nigeria against Argentina will be very difficult due to the fact the Lionel Messi-led side will be all out to redeem their image .
“Nobody expected Argentina to lose with a wide margin to Croatia . That’s football. It is just that this victory is a bad sign to Nigeria. The Super Eagles must give their all to get a good result against Argentina. Meanwhile, the team must beat Iceland in today’s encounter in Volgograd.
“Nigerians should know by now that the Super Eagles lost to a very good Croatian side. I want to appeal to Nigerians not to give up on the team. Our people back home should keep on supporting the team and I want to assure that the Eagles have all it takes to beat Iceland,” he added.
Nigeria lie at the bottom of the group having lost their first game with two unreplied goals to Croatia.
