Cross River State To Host Entrepreneurship Week

The Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA) is excited to announce the upcoming Cross River Entrepreneurship Week, scheduled to take place from November 25th to 29th, 2024. This event aligns with the global celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week and aims to inspire and empower entrepreneurs of all backgrounds.

This year’s theme, “Entrepreneurship is for Everyone,” emphasizes the agency’s commitment to fostering a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cross River State. MEDA recognizes the potential of entrepreneurship to drive economic growth, create jobs, and improve the lives of individuals and communities.

The Cross River Entrepreneurship Week will feature a diverse range of activities which forms part of the governor’s strategy to touch lives in different strata of the society. Some of the programs include:

Retiree Entrepreneurship Development Initiative (REDI)  (Day 1): A program designed to empower retirees and near-retirees with entrepreneurial skills and support to start their own businesses.

Women in Neighborhood Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Development (Wo-NEED) (Day 2): A program aimed at encouraging more women to embrace entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

Youth Local Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (You-LEAP) (Day 3): A program focused on inspiring and equipping youths in the local community with the knowledge and skills to become successful entrepreneurs.

Enterprise Competition and Club for Secondary Schools (Day 4): A platform to catch them young and hone their spirit of enterprise in secondary schools, to showcase their innovative ideas, compete for prizes, and receive mentorship.

Campus CEO (Day 5): A program designed to raise students entrepreneurs while on campuses. This gives them options of choosing between entrepreneurship and employment after graduation

MEDA is a government agency dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship and economic development in Cross River State. The agency provides a range of services, including access to finance, business training, and technical assistance to small and medium enterprises. MEDA’s flagship programs, such as WoNEED, REDI, YOU-LEAP, Campus CEO, and Enterprise Club, have empowered countless entrepreneurs and fostered a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in the state.
