The residents of Ejigbo will not forget in hurry 6th October, 2020, when dignitaries across Lagos State converged at the Police Division for the recommissioning of the multi-million Naira office complex completed by the DPO, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, through community policing scheme.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that among the dignitaries, who attended the event, included Engr. Aramide Adeyoye from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Lagos State House of Assembly Member for Isolo/Oshodi 2 Constituency, Hon. Jude Idimogu, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, Ezendigbo in Alimosho, Eze Lawrence Eze and many others.

The event was remarkable not only for the DPO, CSP Okuwobi, but the entire Police Command and the residents, who realized the importance of community policing in Nigeria.

The new one storey structure was built by the Managing Director of a micro finance company known as Grooming Centre, Dr. Godwin Nwabunka, said to worth millions of Naira.

During the commissioning, the Police Boss, Odumosu, visited the Division along with some ranking officers including the DCP, SCIID Panti, Area Commanders, DPOs and other top officers in the State.

The DPO, CSP Okuwobi, thanked those who have contributed in one way or the other to the completion of the structure and refurbishing of the whole station to standard that will compete internationally.

She said that what happened was a clear case of Police and public partnership relationship and it perfectly worked in Ejigbo and would work elsewhere with cooperation of both parties.

While speaking during the event, CP Odumosu showered blessing and accolades on the DPO, CSP Okuwobi, for her outstanding contribution to the Nigeria Police as well as her quintessential spirit for community policing in line with AIG, IGP directives.

CP Odumosu also commended Hon. Oloyode Monsuru Obe, Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, for his enviable support by donating two vehicles to the Police and Dr. Godwin Nwabunka, CEO, Grooming Centre, who singlehandedly financed the building.

CP Odumosu in his speech, said: “It gladdens my heart to welcome you all to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ejigbo, for this auspicious occasion. A standard contour of professional policing is premised on the Police institutions’ aspiration for sustainable and robust community Police relations. This event today is the triumph of community policing in Ejigbo”.

He said that through deliberate efforts that accord our grand design for the Police in Lagos State, Ejigbo Police Division has achieved an unprecedented collaboration between the Police in the entire area under the Division and the law abiding members of the Ejigbo community.

“On behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, Officers and men of Lagos State Command, most especially in Ejigbo LCDA, I sincerely appreciate the Chief Executive Officer of Grooming People for Better livelihood centre, his Governing Board, and the entire centre for this gesture.”

“Indeed, Grooming has lived up to its name as this structure, and the general upliftment of the station will contribute enormously to our vision of grooming the officers and men of the Command to imbibe globally acceptable Police practices.”

“I equally want to thank Mr. Paul Adeleke, who aspired for the additional office building and gave it wing to fly by procuring the building plans.”

“I must not forget the role of our royal father, Kabiyesi, Oba Moruf Ojoola, who donated 1000 blocks, which were later used for the PCRC building. Kabiyesi, we are very proud of you and grateful for your spiritual, moral and material assistance.”

CP appreciated all others, whose goodwill, support in different ways that made the project see the light of the day.

“Let me at this point, express my most profound appreciation to the indefatigable Chairman if Ejigbo LCDA Honourable Monsuru Oloyede Bello. His support to the Police Division is quite outstanding and commendable. His donation of two (2) new patrol Sienna vans for the patrol of communities in Ejigbo LCDA is highly commendable and worthy of emulation by other public office holders.”

“I have equally been informed that some communities are similarly planning to donate vehicles to the Police in their respective areas, this is well appreciated in advance. On our part, it will be my pleasure to set in motion actions for deployment of additional Police officers to Ejigbo, and judiciously utilize the vehicles for the purpose which they are meant for in order to deliver on your security needs.”

“Let me use this medium to assure Lagosians that all hands are on the deck to ensure a crime free Yuletide season. I must also express strong warning to those planning to express any form of criminality to game themselves or be tamed by our officers as we have decided to make Lagos State uninhabitable for criminal elements. To achieve this, we seek cooperation of Lagosians in sharing information on crimes and suspected criminals and alerting us for decisive Police action.”

CP Odumosu commended the officers and men of Ejigbo Division for their extraordinary service delivery, while advising them and all Police personnel in the state to be humane, civil, and committed to the present ongoing reforms in the Nigeria Police.
