LUCKY LAWAL

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight principal suspected cultists from Aiye and Eiye confraternities, following a bloody clash between the two rival groups which left one person dead on Wednesday night.

According to the information that got to the Police, some cultists were planning a counter attack which might be more bloody than the previous clashes where people lost lives and properties were put at risks.

Immediately the report of the clash got to the notice of the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Ahmed lliyasu, he immediately mandated the Special Units of the Command such as FSARS and Anti Cultist/Kidnapping sections to move in and bring the hoodlums to justice.

Following the CP’s directive, the Officer-in-charge of FSARS, DSP Uba Adam swung into action and embarked on technical intelligence based investigations. Their efforts paid off when the hideout of the hoodlums was discovered. They stormed the place and discovered they were holding a meeting preparatory for another deadly clash.

The O/C FSARS with his men were able to get eight of them arrested with various types of dangerous arms and ammunition.

The arrested cultists were: Muyiwa Talabi Tunde, Adeyemi, Korede Pariosho, Dayo Johnson, Segun Saka, Niyi Adeshina, Micheal Oluwaseun and Afolabi Ismail.

During interrogations, it was discovered that the duo of Muyiwa Talabi and Niyi Adeshina who were strong members of the Aiye group were the ones who hacked down the victim of Wednesday’s clash. It was also discovered that one of their co-accomplices who also played a prominent role in Wednesday’s fracas was traced to his house by the rival group and hacked to death early this morning before Police got to his house to arrest him.
In the process, the Police recovered two pump action guns, four locally made double barreled pistols, eleven live cartridges and assorted charms from their hideout.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has given a matching order to all the special units involved
in the operation to go all out after the perpetrators of the dastardly act with the view of bringing them all to justice as well as their sponsors no matter how highly placed they may be.
