Residents of Itire area of Lagos have continued to express their fears over the activities of cultists in the area and are crying out to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to come to their aid.
According to some residents who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS, the cultists had continued to unleash mayhem on residents, shop owners and passersby in broad daylight unimpeded. They said that people living in the area will greatly appreciate if the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohimi, will help put an end to their nefarious activities like he had done in other parts of the state.
A shop owner in the area, Mrs. Fadilat Oyewole, told our correspondent that the cultists usually brandished guns, knives and other dangerous weapons and do not cover their faces. She said that their activities in the last couple of days were mainly on Onipede and Omobola streets in the area which crippled business activities and left them in fear as they do not know when next they will strike.
Another shop owner, Mrs. Busayo Adebola, spoke in the same vein and complained about the way and manner the cultists dispossessed them and passersby of their phones, money and valuables. She said that it was also very annoying to see policemen around only when the cultists had gone; she said that most times the policemen ended up arresting innocent residents which had eroded the confidence in the ability of the police in the area to provide adequate security.
Most of the residents expressed confidence in the Lagos Police boss and were asking him to urgently come to their aid in the Itire area and flush the cultists just like he had done in Ikorodu and other parts of the state.
