The yearly DA-F Basketball Back to School event for the 2022/2023 academic session was concluded Saturday, September 10th, 2022, at the Basketball Stadium, 59B, Niger Street, Port-Harcourt.
The annual event which is co-sponsored by Ahmadu Musa Kida Foundation(AMK ), featured a novelty basketball match in honour late Emeka Ojukwu, who was a member of the DA-F Academy, as well as, matches in the U10, U13, U16 and U19 categories.
The highlight of the event was the distribution of educational materials worth hundreds of thousands of naira with the financial support of the President of Nigeria Basketball Federation, Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida owned AMK Foundation.
In the opening remarks of the NBBF President representative at the event, Miss Ngozi Fubara, Engr. Musa Kida advised the participants to be good ambassadors of basketball and also to take their academic studies seriously.
Miss Fubara who also doubles as the Secretary of Rivers State Basketball Association, further donated cash of N100,000 on behalf of Kida to the kids, adding that he would continue his support to the academy.
Coach Fubara Humprey Onyanabo, the Convener of the event stated that the aim of the event is to encourage the kids and teach them the importance of education. And the need for them to strive to be good and responsible citizens in future.
At the end of the event, the over 170 excited kids went home with educational materials like books, mathematical sets, pencils, pens, rulers and crayons, amongst other gifts.
