The Presidency has clarified the inclusion of billionaire businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, in the list of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2019 general elections.
In a statement signed by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity), the Presidency said the businessman is not a member of the APC.
“It has become imperative to further clarify the status of Alhaji Aliko Dangote, named under the sub-head ADVISORY MEMBERS in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council announced on Friday, December 28, 2018.”
“Africa’s richest man, not being a card-carrying member of APC, cannot, and is not member of the PCC. He is also a member of the Peace Committee, and thus cannot be in a partisan campaign council” Femi Adesina said.
According to the list released on Friday, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who will be co-chairing the Presidential Campaign Council with President Muhammadu Buhari is also part of the Special Advisory Committee to President Buhari. Some other members of the committee included Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mr. Femi Otedola, Senator Ahmed Lawan and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
