Residents and political stakeholders from Eti-Osa Constituency I, Lagos, staged a solidarity rally on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 2:30pm to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day, expressing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event, held as part of Democracy Day activities across Lagos State, brought together party leaders, grassroots mobilizers, community stakeholders, and supporters who commended the administration’s policies and democratic processes.
Speaking at the rally, Hon. Taiwo Afini, former Vice Chairman of Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), praised President Tinubu and other democracy advocates for sustaining Nigeria’s democratic journey for 27 years.
Afini expressed confidence in APC candidates emerging from Lagos State, highlighting the track records of Hon. Fuad Atanda Lawal, House of Representatives candidate for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, and Hon. Saheed Adesegun Bankole, Lagos State House of Assembly candidate for Eti-Osa Constituency I.
He noted Lawal’s tenure as former Executive Chairman of Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA and Bankole’s tenure as former Chairman of Eti-Osa Local Government, during which key infrastructure projects including the local government secretariat were delivered.
“APC supporters in Eti-Osa are ready to mobilize for all party candidates in 2027,” Afini assured.
Also speaking, Comrade Abiodun Maiyegun, APC chieftain and grassroots mobilizer, said the rally was organized to appreciate the President’s people-oriented policies and the party’s recent primary process in Lagos State.
He described Bankole as a credible leader with a record of service, and expressed confidence that Lawal would provide quality representation for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency if elected.
Maiyegun urged residents of Eti-Osa and Lagos State to support APC candidates in the forthcoming elections to consolidate ongoing development efforts under the current administration.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the rally, constituents of Eti-Osa Constituency I reaffirmed support for President Tinubu’s administration and endorsed continuity beyond 2027.
The group also declared support for Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun, Hon. Fuad Atanda Lawal, Hon. Saheed Adesegun Bankole, and Hon. Gbolahan Olusegun Yishawu as APC candidates.
“Together, we remain committed to building a stronger, more prosperous and united Nigeria,” the communiqué stated.
The rally concluded with participants celebrating Nigeria’s 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule and calling for greater citizen participation in governance.
The event formed part of Democracy Day activities across Lagos State aimed at encouraging civic engagement and marking the nation’s democratic progress.
