Dialogue Is The Only Solution To The Crisis In The South East – Sen. Andy Uba

The All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial candidate for the November 6, 2021 Anambra election, Senator Andy Uba, has stated that dialogue is the only way out of the precarious situation the South East currently finds itself. He stressed that government at all levels should make compromises to find lasting peace in the region.

Speaking during an interview aired on BBC Igbo – which has attracted millions of viewers – Sen. Uba insisted that all groups and stakeholders must sit on a round table to understand what the issues are, contending that it is only when people know for sure what their demands are that such issues can be sorted out.

He went down memory lane to narrate his engagements with the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) led by Ralph Uwazuruike in 2006/2007, adding that he visited him continuously while in the prison to ensure that further crisis was averted in the South East.

The APC candidate stressed that his persistence and diplomatic approach to the issue ensured that Uwazuruike, who then led MASSOB, agreed to assist him in developing the state.

Sen. Uba added that if he becomes governor he would ensure that normalcy is returned as he would use all manners of diplomacy to appeal to everyone, while pledging to tackle the root cause(s) of the problem.

Earlier in the interview, Sen. Uba promised to create massive jobs, stating that the number one reason for the insecurity currently being witnessed is the rising unemployment rate which he assured an administration led by him would set out from day one to stem.
