Following his invitation to speak at the ongoing Africa Energy Indaba, Solutions for Africa conference and seminar in far away Cape Town International Convention Centre, South Africa, the Director-General, Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Abdullahi, was among the panelists on the Break-away Session 14 on Demand-side Management, where he rubbed minds with other energy experts from across the globe.

At the discussion, the ECN Boss described his leading role in the country’s drive for a new energy path. As the numero uno in charge of the country’s energy wherewithal, he informed the audience the strategic role his agency, the Energy Commission of Nigeria, plays in planning and implementation of all energy policies in the country, especially the resolve of the new administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to make energy pursuits one of his administration’s core areas of focus.

Mr. President having a firm knowledge of where the world is headed in the area of energy, following the recent calls by global leaders to countries world over to disengage from fossil fuels and embrace renewable energy, has personally underscored the need for Africa, Nigeria taking the lead, to pursue a new path in energy in the face of climate change and global warming.

Dr. Abdullåhi, while intimating the audience his milestones since assumption of office barely 4 months ago, expressed his optimism in the leadership of Mr. President to redesign a new path for the country’s energy pursuits.

“Mr. President is very serious about his reforms. He is not there to joke. He came prepared for the job. That is why investors from outside the country now have some higher degree of trust in the country unlike before with the new focus on providing conducive business environment, providing incentives for businesses where necessary to enhance national development. Part of such reforms is what my agency is currently doing in the area of energy overhauling” the ECN Director-General further affirmed.
