A spirited Nigerian and stakeholder in the Sports sector, Dr Emmanuel Peter Adayehi, has made a clarion call for the disbandment of current National Team, the Super Eagles.
In his letter to the Honourable Minister of Sports and the NFF, Dr Adayehi wants the authorities to pay critical attention to the national football team, the Super Eagles, under the current coaching crew led by Finidi George.
He said, “As a passionate supporter of Nigerian football and a concerned citizen, I believe it is imperative to address the urgent need for change in order to restore the glory and success associated with our national team”.
“Nigeria, a nation with a rich footballing history and a reputation as the giant of Africa, cannot afford to lag behind in the international arena. Our country is blessed with a diverse population representing various tribes and ethnicities, all of whom share a love for the beautiful game. Our football history is adorned with remarkable stories of skilled players and successful coaches who have brought laurels to our great nation.”
“However, the recent performance of the Super Eagles, as indicated by Finidi George’s record, has been below par. In the four matches under his coaching tenure, we have suffered two losses, one draw, and only managed a single victory. Furthermore, the team has conceded six goals while scoring only four. These statistics are far from satisfactory and raise serious concerns about the coaching and management of the team.”
“While I acknowledge that every coach faces challenges and that immediate World Cup qualification is not always a realistic expectation, it is important to have a coach who can effectively lead and inspire the players towards success. Unfortunately, based on the results and performance of Finidi George as the coach of the Super Eagles thus far, it is evident that he may not possess the necessary skills and experience to manage our national team.”
“Therefore, I am urging the Ministry for Sports Development and the Nigerian Football Federation to seriously reconsider the appointment of Finidi George as the coach of the Super Eagles. Our nation deserves a coach who can instill discipline, implement effective strategies, and develop a winning mentality within the team. The current state of affairs demands immediate action to prevent further setbacks and restore the pride and glory associated with Nigerian football.”
“I kindly request that a thorough assessment be conducted to identify a suitable and competent coach who can lead the Super Eagles to greater heights. This decision should be made with utmost consideration for the long-term development and success of our national team, taking into account the vast pool of talented players within our country.”
“In conclusion, I humbly appeal to you, as representatives of Nigerian sports and football, to prioritize the disbandment of the current national team and the appointment of a coach who can inspire our players and lead them to success. Let us rekindle the spirit of Nigerian football and reclaim our position as the true giant of Africa.”
“Thank you for your attention to this situation. I remain hopeful that our collective efforts will bring positive change and propel Nigerian football to new heights” Dr Adayehi concluded.
