The former Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area and APGA candidate for Aguata Federal Constituency, Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike, has once again demonstrated his commitment to youth empowerment and quality representation as he championed career development and empowerment of young women at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam.
Dr. Ofobuike, who is widely celebrated for his outstanding performance as Mayor of Aguata, where he transformed local governance with people-oriented projects, road interventions, youth empowerment, and transparent leadership, brought the same passion for development to the Young African Girls’ Conference (YAGC).
The conference, held at COOU, Igbariam campus, brought together hundreds of young, hard-working female students and professionals to discuss the future of African women in leadership and career advancement.
Speaking on the theme, “Beyond the Degree: Building a Meaningful Career and Redefining Success for African Women and Girls,” Dr. Ofobuike shared deep insights on the realities facing young women in today’s competitive world and the need to equip them for opportunities beyond the classroom.
According to him, a university degree is important, but building relevant skills, character, and a clear career vision is what guarantees meaningful success for African women and girls in the 21st century.
Dr. Ofobuike, a proven performer as former Mayor of Aguata, also used the opportunity to share his bold vision for Aguata Federal Constituency and what he hopes to achieve when elected to the Federal House of Representatives.
He noted that his experience as Mayor, where he performed excellently and delivered visible development across Aguata communities, has prepared him to perform even more at the national level. He promised to focus on creating opportunities, attracting federal projects, improving education, supporting women and youth businesses, and strengthening representation for the people of Aguata.
Stakeholders who have followed his political trajectory agree that Dr. Ofobuike’s performance as Aguata Mayor remains a reference point in Anambra State. His administration was marked by accessibility, accountability, and impactful projects that touched the lives of the ordinary people. Many believe he will replicate and even surpass that performance in the Green Chamber.
In support of the conference’s concluding competition and to encourage excellence among the participants, Dr. Ofobuike presented a complete HP desktop computer set for the eventual winner. The gesture, which drew applause from the audience, was described as a practical investment in digital learning and career growth for young women.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Excellent Leadership to Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike by the Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof. Kate Omenugha. The award recognises his consistent leadership, youth development efforts, and selfless service to humanity.
Prof. Omenugha commended Dr. Ofobuike for investing in the next generation and for being a role model of purposeful leadership.
Dr. Ofobuike’s continued investment in young people reflects his strong belief that empowering the next generation, especially young women, is essential to building a better and more inclusive society.
For the people of Aguata Federal Constituency, the message is clear. Having performed as Mayor of Aguata, Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike has the capacity, experience, and vision to perform even more as their representative in the Federal House of Representatives.
His agenda remains focused on greater opportunities, stronger representation, and a better future for all.
